July 9th was such a beautiful and magical day, not only for The Cambridge Family but for us, the Royal Watchers. We finally got to see The Cambridges as a Quintet!
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge chose 5 of their closest friends and one of their family members to be given the position of godparent to their youngest child, Prince Louis. They chose:
Mr. Nicholas Van Cutsem
Nicholas Van Cutsem is a long-time friend of The Duke of Cambridge. His brother, William Van Cutsem, is Prince George’s godfather. Nicholas commanded the mounted Household Cavalry soldiers who accompanied William and Kate’s carriage back to Buckingham Palace from Westminster Abbey after their wedding.
Mr. Harry Aubrey-Fletcher
Another longtime friend of The Duke of Cambridge. They went to both Ludgrove Prep School and Eton College together. William was an usher at his wedding in 2011, which was the first wedding that William and Kate attended together after announcing their engagement.
The Lady Laura Meade
Laura Meade is a close friend to both The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and has known them both for a very long time. She lives in the Norfolk area and is frequently spotted at with The Cambridges including most recently at the Polo game. She has twin boys and is married to James Meade, who is Princess Charlotte’s godfather. Below she is pictured with Kate, George, and Charlotte in June 2018 holding one of her twin baby boys!
Mrs. Hannah Carter
Longtime friend of The Duchess of Cambridge. They went to school together at Malborough College.
Miss Lucy Middleton
Few days ago I made a godparent guess on my Instagram and Lucy Middleton was the only one I correctly guessed. She is The Duchess of Cambridge’s paternal cousin. Below she is pictured with her brother Adam, who is Princess Charlotte’s godfather!
Below Lucy, Hannah Carter and her husband, and Harry Aubrey-Fletcher arriving at the christening with Guy Pelly and his wife arriving in the back!
And here is Laura Meade arriving with James Middleton:
For Prince Louis’ service, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge chose two hymns, two lessons, and two anthems.
The Hymns were:
– O Jesus, I Have Promised
-Lord of All Hopefulness
The Main Family
And of course the stars of today’s show, The Cambridge Quintet! This was the first time we saw The Cambridges as a family of five! They arrived together with George, Charlotte, and William in blue and Kate on white. Prince Louis was of course wearing the traditional royal christening gown.
The Duchess of Cambridge looked absolutely radiant and happy gazing at her little boy! It was so good to see her once again!
This is a video of The Guests and Royals arriving to the christening but you can also see how much of little royal pros George and Charlotte are as they politely shook hands with all the Bishops.
The Queen and Prince Phillip
I talked at great length today on my Instagram about my thoughts and theories on Her Majesty and The Duke of Edinburgh not attending today so if you want to check that out, click here!
So that’s all for this christening post. It was such a joy to see this little family all together and I very much look forward to the future moments. Sadly, I believe this is the last Cambridge Christening but who know they may surprise us 😉 !
