The Cambridges Spread Christmas Cheer to RAF Families

Over the past two days, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have undergone engagements to bring a little Christmas joy to RAF families with member that are deployed specifically in Cyprus.

Yesterday, December 4th, they welcomed families and children of deployed personnel from RAF Coningsby and RAF Marham serving in Cyprus to their “backyard” at Kensington Palace for a Christmas.

Father Christmas decided to join the royal and families at the party:

The party seemed lovely! They rented a faux snow machine to give the full Christmas effect:

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived at the party by foot as it is very close to their Apartment at the palace.

You can see that even their staff was in Christmas spirit wearing some interesting sweaters haha:

They met and talked with the families and enjoyed the party with the little ones:

Towards the end of the party, The Duchess of Cambridge gave a speech where she recounted her time as an RAF Wife. The Duke of Cambridge served for many years and even was deployed for 6 weeks to the Falklands in 2012.

Continuing:

A quote:

“As someone whose husband has served, I know how hard it feels when someone leaves home for the job they have trained for. The absence of people we love must be especially hard at this time of year.”

More:

“We should never forget our military families and all the service you do for us all. The absence of people you love must be especially hard at this time of year. William and I, however, hope that today shows, in some small way, how much you are all valued. We are really looking forward to flying to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus tomorrow and meeting some of the mums and dads of the little ones we have met today. I am sure they will be thrilled with all your cards and gifts, so thank you for posting them today.”

Upon their departure from the event, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge got into a snow ball fight and even The Duchess’ private secretary, Catherine Quinn, got into the fun.

It resulted in some lovely moments:

I loved The Duchess of Cambridge’s outfit. It was so unlike her yet at the same time it was such a “Kate” outfit (if that makes sense haha). She wore a tartan skirt from Emilia Wickstead and a lovely Brora Cashmere Cropped Sweater.

Yesterday evening, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also attended the Diplomatic Corps Reception at Buckingham Palace. The event is white-tie (aka Tiaras) and is usually reserved for the “topdogs” (The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. In previous yeas we have only gotten car arrival shots…

But this year they decided to surprise and allowed a rota photographer into the reception to snap shots of the Royal Family. Maybe this is Prince Charles’ doing and it is a little glimpse as to how his reign will be..

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a bespoke Jenny Packham gown and Queen Mary’s Knot Tiara with the Royal Family Order which she first wore at the same event in December 2017.

On December 5th The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge flew to Cyprus to meet with the deployed personnel and some of the families that live on the base of RAF Akrotiri.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a style she has before. Trousers and a blazer (by Smythe)!

Yesterday, at the party that they hosted, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge collected gifts and cards from children to personally deliver them to their parents in Cyprus:

To finish of their trip, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had a walk about where they met members of the community:

Catherine revealed today that Prince Louis is almost waving! Good to know he is practicing his family’s signature move and hopefully soon we’ll be able to the debut (most likely at Trooping the Color next year):

The Duke of Cambridge also gave a speech the air force base. You can view it below as well as other clips from the day:

I loved following these past two engagements and how much joy The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been able to bring these families! The Christmas cheer spreading doesn’t stop today! Next week on the 11th, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have two engagements where they will be able to spread some joy to some people! I will see you all then!

P.S. Last Thursday, The Duchess of Cambridge and Princess Charlotte attended a special rehearsal of the Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House. There is one picture that I will not be posting here but you can view it by going to the “Mini Cambridges” highlight on my Instagram.
