Cambridge Overview

Cambridge Overview: May 20th-25th

WOW! It’s one heck of a week for The Cambridges and I loved every single second of it! Lets quickly jump into this wweks Cambridge Overview!

May 20th:

May 20th was seriously the best day to be a Cambridge Fan! The previous evening, Kensington Palace released 6 images of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis at Kate’s ‘Back to Nature Garden’! The pictures showed the children having a fun time in the garden which was specifically designed to encourage families to spend more time in the nature! George, Charlotte, and Louis had all been working over the months with their mum on collecting leaves and moss for the garden.

The swing The Duchess had also been pictured on was a big hit with the kids!

Prince Louis did seem a bit weary about the swing but thankfully he had his Papa to help!

I just love this picture of Kate her Cambridge men! George and William have the same look on their face haha.

Prince Louis sure does seem to have both his Papa and mummy wrapped around his little finger. I mean who could blame them…Look at that FACE!

Prince George and Princess Charlotte really do seem to be best friends and its so heartwarming to see!

I woke up early in the morning on the 20th with news that there is video footage of them and naturally I started freaking out! This is actually the first time we have gotten video footage of them like this just so relaxed in their (controlled) environment! So much to love in this video: Prince George and Princess Charlotte being so excited to see the garden in their own little way, Prince Louis walking and getting up and close with the camera, and Charlotte’s little “Ooh LaLa”

A chat with The Duchess also including exclusive footage of her working on the garden was released! She was at the Royal Horticultural Society helping set up almost every day last week!

In the morning, The Duchess of Cambridge visited her garden one last time before its official unveiling in the evening and this time she brought along a group of local Primary School Children!

She showed the children around the garden and they are pictured here up in the treehouse!

Below they are taking a look into a wooden dent which The Duchess, with the help of George, Charlotte Louis, built at Anmer Hall before it was brought to London!

They also made some smores and gathered around the campfire:

I just loved seeing how passionate involved Kate has been with this project and it shows when you look at how happy and prideful she is talking about it!

A sweet video of her first visit of the day:

She went home for quick change into a more dressy outfit and returned a few hours later with her proud husband, Prince William, by her side!

He surely was proud of all his wife had accomplished!

The Duchess of Cambridge, along with The Duke, showed Her Majesty around the garden. Kate was said to have been nervously cleaning things up a bit and stuffed a dead branch into her purse right before The Queen arrived haha!

Other members of the Royal Family got in on the fun as well! The Countess of Wessex is pictured here climbing up the ladder to the treehouse:

And Princess Beatrice also got a little tour of the garden from her cousin-in-law!

The Duchess of Cambridge was very clearly proud of the project she has been working on for months and it has been so lovely to see her passion just radiate! For her second Outfit of the day, she wore a (actually) pretty Erdem floral dress with Wedges:

And this picture shows how lovely her half-up/half-down hairstyle was! (p.s. We have The Hand *swoon*)

A video of The Queen at the Garden:

And finally, we got a video with Prince George expressing all of our thoughts; the garden was 20/10! (This video is the cutst thing from Prince George’s thoughts and William’s “I think mummy did  well’ to William enjoying himself on the swing)

May 21st:

In the early morning of May 21st, The Duke of Cambridge headed to Thames River to help launch the “Safer Thames” campaign which will aim to help prevent accidents and self-harm incidents on the River Thames. The strategy will address the risk of drowning through accidents as well as suicide.

He traveled down the Thames River with representatives from London Port Authority and the Metropolitan Police to learn more about the Drowning Prevention Strategy.

Today he was joined by Johnny Benjamin, a man who was saved by a passer-by who stopped him from attempting suicide from Waterloo Bridge in 2008. The Duke was also joined by Neil Laybourn, the man who saved Benjamin’s life. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met both Benjamin and Neill in 2016 (below) and William would later go on to write the foreword to Benjamin’s book, “The Stranger on the Bridge”.

The Duke of Cambridge gave a speech at the launch:

In the afternoon, both The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined Her Majesty The Queen at her 2nd garden party of the season at Buckingham Palace!

Garden Parties are designed as a way for Her Majesty to recognize and reward people for their public service. There are usually about 8,000-10,000 queuing up to meet the royals at each garden party but of course not everyone gets to!

One of the people The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met was Kerry Irving and his assistance dog Max! Kensington Palace said: “In 2006, Kerry’s car was hit by a truck, leaving him housebound with chronic neck and back pain. Kerry still suffers with the pain from his back injury, but he credits Max with helping him to get his life back on track. Kerry has since retrained as a locksmith and Max is always with him”.

For the garden party The Duchess of Cambridge wore a new Alexander McQueen coat-dress paired with her Gianvito Rossi Pumps and Loeffler Randall handbag.

Her gorgeous new hat by Juliette Millinery matched perfectly with her earrings which belonged to her late mother-in-law.

Prince William wore his regular morning suit with a beautiful pink flower pinned on to it to match his wife’s outfit!

A video of the garden party:

The Court Circular also revealed that The Duchess of Cambridge was received (likely before the garden party) by Her Majesty The Queen when she officially invested Kate with her Royal Victorian Order!

May 22nd:

On May 22nd, The Daily Mirror released an exclusive article with their Next Generation of writers and editors! The teenagers were given an interview with Prince William via-text messages! I encourage to click the link here and read the story plus see the moment of their exchanges with William!

Also that day, The Duke of Cambridge held yet another Duchy of Cornwall meeting. The Duchy of Cornwall is the place where the heir (currently Prince Charles) gets the money for himself and his family so its quite telling how involved William has become in the past year or so!

May 23rd:

On Tuesday, The Duchess of Cambridge had told a guest at the garden party that Prince George had been very upset to leave his mum’s garden and she said she was hoping to take him back to see the other gardens as well! On Thursday she got her wish as she took Prince George and Princess Charlotte to help her water her garden in the morning before they went to school and nursery! They also got to see some of the other garden!

May 24th:

On May 24th, Kensington Palace announced that Princess Charlotte will be joining her older brother at St. Thomas’s Battersea School from September 2019 onward! Simon O’Malley, Headmaster at Thomas’s Battersea, said:“We are delighted that The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have decided that Princess Charlotte will join her elder brother, Prince George, at Thomas’s Battersea”. Prince George has been attending Thomas’s Battersea since September 2017 and is currently in Year 1 (Kindergarten for my fellow Americans)!

It’s been such an exciting week but unfortunately next week will be pretty slow. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be taking the week off the spend time with the kids since they have a school break! So that means there will most likely not be a Cambridge Overview next week! Until next time!
