King’s Cup Regatta 2019

In May 2019, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced their plans to host the inaugural King’s Cup Regatta to bring awareness to 8 of their chosen charities (4 for both of them) and today it finally happened!

In the race, there were 8 individual boats, to represent each of the charities, skippered by an ambassador. The Duke of Cambridge was representing Child Bereavement UK. The other 3 ambassadors for his patronages were….

Fara Williams, part of the Women’s England National Football Team, for Centrepoint UK, Dan Snow, historian and tv presenter, for the London Air Ambulance Charity 30th Anniversary Campaign, and Bear Grylls, an adventurer, writer, and television presenter, for Tusk Trust:

The Duchess of Cambridge represented The Royal Foundation specifically for her upcoming Early Year’s Initiative. The rest of the ambassadors were…

Katie Thisleton, English television and radio presenter, for Place2Be, Helen Glover, British professional rower and a member of the Great Britain Rowing Team, for the Anne Freud Center for Children and Families, and John Bishop for Action on Addiction:

The whole team:

In the end, Centrepoint and Tusk Trust had a joint win:

Prince William came in third over all while The Duchess was disqualified in the second round for starting to early haha!

The event was designed to allow the public to get involved! Members of the public were invited to watch for free in the SailGP Race Village which included a 500-seater grandstand. Footage from the race was played on large screens with live commentary.

William and Kate’s favorite little cheerleaders, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, we’re out on the water with their maternal grandparents cheering on their parents!

Sweet little Charlotte swiftly spotted the camera haha!

Prince George chatting to his Granny Carole:

Such a sweet moment between George and his Grandpa Mike! It’s always a treat when we see the children with their extended family!

George decided he was going to captain his boat! Prince Louis was also on the Isle but didn’t get on the water!

Charlotte and a friend sweetly holding hands:

One of the highlights of the day, Charlotte sticking her tongues out haha:

The Duchess of Cambridge picked up her consolation prize…a giant spoon!

The Duke of Cambridge will never let her live this down haha:

A video from today:

And a video montage by Kensington Palace!

What an absolutely amazing day it’s been! Everything was perfect and I truly hope this becomes an annual event!

The next time we’ll see our Duke and Duchess is likely while they’re in a car heading to church on the Balmoral Estate! In previous years, they’ve headed at the very end of August so it’ll be a while! They will only be back full-time in early September. See you all soon!
