A Cambridge Christmas 2019

In this post we’ll take a look at all the celebrations The Cambridges have done for Christmas 2019!

Elves’ Enchanted Forest

The Duchess of Cambridge kicked off the Royal Christmas Themed engagements with a trip to the Elves’ Enchanted Forest! On December 4th, The Duchess joined families supported by Family Action for some Christmas themed activities.

On that day it was announced that The Queen had passed down the patronage (Family Action) to The Duchess of Cambridge after holding it since 1953. The Queen, in fact, received the patronage from her own grandmother, Queen Mary.

Family Action is an organization that tackles difficult issues facing families – including financial hardship, mental health and emotional wellbeing, social isolation, parenting challenges, domestic abuse, and substance misuse.

The CEO, who is on The Duchess’ Early Years Taskforce, said: Family Action is honoured that The Duchess of Cambridge has become our Royal Patron. I have seen The Duchess’s passionate support for disadvantaged families first hand and have been impressed by her leadership in understanding and promoting the vital importance of the Early Years. Family Action looks forward to working with The Duchess in the years to come.”

The Duchess of Cambridge walked around with the children and helped them pick a Christmas tree for their pre-school classrooms.

Adorable video of her walking around with the kiddos:

The Duchess helped the kids makes some letters for Santa…

And ship them off to the North Pole!

A video of that moment from KP:

For the engagement, The Duchess of Cambridge resorted back to her comfy clothes by wearing her Perfect Moment Ski Jacket she debuted in 2017, a new sweater from Really Wild, and her

A Berry Royal Christmas:

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge appeared alongside the legend, Mary Berry, for a BBC One documentary titled, A Berry Royal Christmas (A+ title) on December 16th.

The program showed Mary Berry accompany The Duke and Duchess on 4 separate engagements. First, in September 2019, Mary joined Catherine at RHS Wisley to learn more about The Duchess’s commitment to the early years in raising the next generation of happy, healthy children.

Then, in November, Mary Berry joined The Duke of Cambridge at his patronage, The Passage, to meet some of the 130,000 people helped by the charity’s resource centre, homelessness prevention projects and two innovative accommodation services.

That same day, according to the Court Circular, Mary accompanied The Duchess of Cambridge to The Brink, the UK’s first dry bar set up by one of Kate’s first patronages, Action on Addiction. The two national treasures met the inspiring people whose lives have been changed by the help and support of the charity.

Fun fact:
The Duchess of Cambridge officially opened The Brink back in 2012 on one of her first solo “away days” to Liverpool.

And finally, the program culminated with a Christmas party, hosted by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, to thank and acknowledge staff and volunteers from charities and organisations who will be working tirelessly over the Christmas period.

Christmas Luncheon:

On December 18th, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge along with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis attended The Queen’s annual family Christmas luncheon at Buckingham Palace.

The annual luncheon allows for Her Majesty to gather her whole family and catch up with the more distantly related ones who don’t get an invite to spend Christmas Day with her. Photos are never released as it is a family occasion but we always get car shots.

The Duke of Cambridge and Prince George arrived first as they had to be there early for a special event.

Prince George looked WAY to big as he sat down right next to his Papa in the car!

The Duchess of Cambridge arrived from Kensington Palace soon afterwards with Prince George and Princess Charlotte in tow!

It had been the first time in over five months that we got a glimpse of Prince Louis and he looked so different!

Also arriving with The Duchess and two of the kiddos was Nanny Maria. Every family who has children takes a nanny/babysitter to this event as the children sit separately from the adults.

The family left a little over 2 hours later all together! I love this photo of the Cambridge siblings!

Finally, the two ladies of the Cambridge family. The Duchess was wearing an Emilia Wickstead dress while Princess Charlotte wore a dress named “The Nutcracker” by Little Alice London.

Puddings with GanGan, Grandpa Wales, and Papa:

Right before the luncheon, The Duke of Cambridge and Prince George joined Her Majesty The Queen and The Prince of Wales to make some traditional Christmas puddings to mark the launch of the Poppy Legion’s ‘Together at Christmas’ initiative.

The Royal British Legion’s ‘Together at Christmas’ initiative is designed to provide extra support to the Armed Forces and veteran communities at annual festive get togethers across the charity’s network of outreach centres.

It was a very rare a sweet sight to see not only 4 generations together, but also the monarch with her three heirs!

Footage of the sweetness was broadcasted during The Queen’s 2019 Christmas speech! The full thing can be viewed below:

Christmas Card:

For some reason, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge did not officially release their Christmas card photo but we still got to see it as one of The Duchess’ patronages posted the picture of her Christmas card signed by Catherine!

The gorgeous family portrait, taken by their current favorite photographer Matt Porteous at their country home Anmer Hall, was also featured during The Queen’s annual Christmas speech. The photo was front and center alongside pictures of The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke of Edinburgh, and Her Majesty’s late father, King George VI.

But they did release something better… Christmas greetings came in the form of the most adorable photo of Papa William with his babies which was taken in Norfolk earlier this year by Mummy Kate.

Christmas Day:

On Christmas morning, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, accompanied by Sweet Prince George and Princess Charlotte, joined Other Members of The Royal Family at their annual morning church service on The Queen’s Sandringham estate.

It was Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s very first year joining their parents on this walk to church and we can now look forward to seeing them do this every year!

The service is at St. Mary Magdalene’s Church which is where Princess Charlotte was christened a little over FOUR years ago!

A video of their arrival:

The whole family left the church a little over an hour after they arrived:

After shaking some hands and doing some official business, The Cambridges swiftly went to greet the crowds that had gathered to see them and the other royals!

I actually wasn’t expecting William and Kate to do a full on walk about because of the children but it was so nice to see them slowly introducing, not forcing, them to the crowd!

Princess Charlotte was just the sweetest professional Princess! She learned from her mum the art of the walkabout:

Here she is getting some flowers from a sweet little admirer!

Sweet Hugs for her people!

A video of that moment:

Lovely photos of Our Duchess and Princess by Karen who has been taking some amazing photographs of the royals at Sandringham for the past 3 years!

A video of the Royals departing, where you can see Princess Charlotte curtsy, and The Cambridges mingling with the crowd!

The best mother and daughter duo!

For today’s church service, The Duchess of Cambridge turned to one of her go-to designers, Catherine Walker, for her coat. She also wore her Michael Kors Peacock Dress she debuted earlier this year and a hat she’s worn twice and is suspected to be Lock and Co. To finish her look off, The Duchess wore new Emmy London block heels with a clutch from the same brand she’s used before.

The other little style star, Princess Charlotte, looked absolutely adorable with an Amaia Kids green coat and a matching patterned dress from the same brand (which is one of Kate’s go to for the children)!

Our two Princes looked extremely dapper as well!

Merry Christmas Everyone! Hope you all have had a lovely holiday!
