This evening, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, and The Duchess of Cornwall at Buckingham Palace for the annual Diplomatic Corps Reception.
The reception is held by Her Majesty and is where she greets and honors the members of her Diplomatic Corps.
The event’s dress code is “white-tie” which means the Royals pull out all their finery. As you can see below, The Duke of Cambridge with his white bow tie, medals, and his Order of the Garter sash:
The Duchess looked stunning in her and with her Royal Family Order (the yellow ribbon) and the Royal Victorian Order (blue sash).
Last year’s Diplomatic reception was the first time a camera was allowed in to capture everything. Before that it was just the car photos where we could barely see anything!
There were two other times that we got a glimpse of the Diplomatic Corps Reception: In 2016, The Queen’s 90th birthday year, we got an official photo released of the main 6.
That same year, a short clip from the 2015 reception:
Tonight, The Duchess of Cambridge turned to her go-to brand for big events, Alexander McQueen. Sarah Burton created a gorgeous navy velvet dress for our Duchess. She paired the dress her with the Nizam of Hyderabad Necklace and Diamond Chandelier earrings, both from The Queen’s vaults. And she topped (literally) it all of with Queen Mary’s Lovers Knot Tiara.
Lovely side-profile of our gorgeous Duchess! She looked so regal!
This was likely both William and Kate’s last engagement of the year as George and Charlotte are out of school. But don’t worry! We have (hopefully) a family Christmas portrait to look forward to, the documentary with Mary Berry coming out on Monday, and then the Christmas Day church walk to look forward to! See you all then!
